La extensión en el tiempo de la comunidad política

La idea de que la comunidad política se extiende en el tiempo se encuentra en tensión con presupuestos usuales acerca de la topología del tiempo y la dirección temporal de la causalidad. La tensión puede ser resuelta si se adoptan tres tesis: 1) las normas jurídicas –en especial la Constitución– son la expresión de expectativas o preferencias colectivas futuras de los ciudadanos del pasado; 2) existen algunos objetos que no están en el presente; 3) el valor que tiene la vida que alguien ha vivido depende metafísicamente de la satisfacción de sus preferencias.
